Equipment

Do I need to bring a bike or can I hire one?

If you plan on cycling you have 2 options - you can bring a bike with you or you can hire one.
Hire- If you don't want the stress and hassle of packing your bike up then there are several local bike shops we are in contact with so we can help you to hire one. Mallorca is a busy cycling island so it’s important to organise this beforehand to get the correct size and bike specification. Average cost is approx €20 per day. Bike hire is not included in the price of the trip.
Own bike- If you do bring your own make sure you deflate the tyres, take pedals off and pack it securely. It’s important to add your bike to your travel insurance, just in case! Check with your airline carrier about the weight limit for your bike box/bag (as these do vary). We recommend bringing a ‘road/racing bike’ which is designed to be ridden on the road; however you can bring any bike you like. Touring/hybrids bikes (suitable for road and trial) as well as mountain bikes can be used in the area as there are lots of trails and paths around.

What training gear do I need to bring with me?

Bike - If bringing your bike make sure it is in good working order. We recommend that you get it checked and serviced before you leave and ensure you have good tires and brakes that work! Try to avoid packing your cycle helmet, shoes, pedals and kit in with your bike, just in case your bike doesn’t make it! We can get one hired and you can still cycle.

If you are riding then we recommend that you bring with you suitable clothing – the weather in spring can vary so bring some winter clothing too as it can often be warm on a mountain ascent and then cold descending so come prepared.

For most types of riding you will need:-

  • A cycling top
  • A base layer and cycling jacket and/or wind proof top
  • Cycling shorts and tights for colder weeks
  • Gloves (short and long fingered)
  • Cycling shoes with pedals (if hiring a bike) and overshoes
  • Arm, leg warmers and head gear (if you have them)
  • Helmet
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Water bottles and nutrition (see sports nutrition question)
  • Spare inner tubes and any tools you normally carry/use – we have these but it is best to have your own with you as well

Swim

  • Goggles and swimming trunks/shorts
  • Wetsuit
  • Swim cap
  • Swim towel (we do provide towels for use within the house but bring your own for swimming)
  • Any additional kit you want to such as fins, paddles, pullbouys

Run

  • Run short, tights and tops, head wear
  • Trainers

What other clothing do I need?

Anything you’d normally wear on holiday! Whether it is your favourite jogging bottoms, shorts & t shirt or even compression pants and a vest! We have no dress codes so bring comfortable clothes for after a day of training. The local bars are only a few minutes away so if you fancy popping out in the evening then you may want a pair of jeans – however they are all very relaxed in the town and used to sports people so there are no restrictions.

What kind of sport nutrition is available?

We will provide some energy drinks and cereal bars but recommend you bring your own as everyone uses different products and prefer different flavours so bring the nutrition you train on at home. If you can’t fit it in, the local bike shops sell a lot of the leading brands.

Training

What is the level of fitness I need to be at?

There is no level at all providing you can ride a bike! We welcome beginners to experienced athletes and provide sessions that suit your fitness and experience levels throughout the week. If you are unsure please contact us directly and we can discuss your needs further.

Are the rides guided or can I do my own thing?

This is your trip so there are no rules, you have the opportunity to either go and do your own thing or take part in the guided ride. We are more than happy to provide maps and explain routes for you to go out and explore. The roads here are made for cycling, in great condition and with plenty of sign posts; it’s hard to get lost!

The guided routes provide a variety of terrains and distances. We know the road network like the back of our hand (well most of them!) so can always throw in a hill if everyone is up for it or take a flat route home.

How many people will be in the group?

We make sure we have at least two coaches with our groups and never have groups bigger than 14 people so there’s typically 5-7 people to 1 coach at any one time. To ensure it is safe and to allow for different abilities and energy levels, we sometimes split into different groups. So if you fancy an easier day or want to push it you will always have the chance.

Do I have to train everyday and what else is there to do?

No not at all, it’s your holiday so do as little or as much as you like. You don’t even have to be training to stay with us. Maybe your wife or husband is a sports widow and wants to come along for the journey. There are lots of other activities to do in the area, some physical and some sightseeing. Mallorca is full of culture so whether it be shopping, visiting a museum or sitting by the pool or sea we can recommend plenty of activities for you to enjoy.

Accommodation

How are rooms allocated?

All the rooms are of an excellent standard so there’s no need to fight about who has the nice room! If you’re travelling as a group you can arrange who sleeps where yourself and just let us know. All bedrooms have 2 single beds but these can be made into doubles if required. If you’re happy for us to pair you up that’s fine too although we’ll always try to put females together and males together.

Are single rooms available?

All rooms are twin rooms with single beds and en-suite. We will always try our best to accommodate individuals travelling alone and pair them up with similar people however if you want your own room we are happy to accommodate this for a supplementary charge of £345 .

Food, eating and drinking

Where do we eat?

We have several locations to eat both indoors and out. Food is normally always served together at one of the tables in the house although of course if you fancy some time alone, there are plenty of quiet spots to enjoy too.

What is the food and what do I get?

Breakfast and evening meal are the two sit down meals provide throughout your stay every day. Lunches do vary depending on the activities of the day but usually there are rice and pasta salads, green salads, spanish tortilla and sometimes pizza or soup.  Normally a cup of tea or a cold drink and a homemade cake also wait for you after the training has finished!
If you have any nutritional requirements or allergies then please let us know. We cater for all dietary requirements so please include more details on the booking sheet we will send out to you.

What drinks are included?

Water and soft drinks are provided throughout the day when you’re at the house. Beer and wine for the table are provided with dinner. Post dinner drinks are not included but there are plenty of local bars or supermarkets if you want to buy your own although we also keep a few bottles in the fridge which are available for a small charge.

Should I bring my own sports nutrition?

Booking, Travel and Arriving

Can I book on my own or only as part of a group?

We welcome individuals and groups so please send us an enquiry and we will be more than happy with you to discuss availability and specialist weeks that may suit you.

What days can I arrive and what happens when I get to the airport?
Tuesday is changeover day so you will be collected from the airport and brought back to the house to unpack and recharge. Depending on flights we operate two pickups so please let us know your flight details/times in advance. We work on a week by week basis as we feel this approach works best to give that weeks group the best training experience possible. It also allows the group to bond and get to know each other better.

Are transferred included?

Pick up/drop off service is provided on the changeover day. We will need your arrival times and flight details if you’d like this service as we’ll be co coordinating a number of arrivals and departures on the same day.

Do I have to be picked up?

Not at all. If you want to make your own way we can provide you with directions to the house which is only 50 min from the airport. We’ll ask you to provide us with your flight details and estimated time of arrival and will advise when you’re room will be ready.

How do I book my place?

To reserve your place please make an enquiry online or email us at info@tricamp.co.uk. If you make a reservation more than 8 weeks prior to the dates agreed, a £195 deposit should be made within 7 days of your booking. If you reserve your trip less than 8 weeks prior to the departure, the full balance is due at the time of booking. All trips are subject to availability and group sizes are limited. See our terms and conditions for full details.

Do I need insurance?

We do insist that you have adequate travel insurance to cover both yourself and your equipment and will ask for a copy of this policy prior to your arrival. Lost baggage, cancelling your trip or an accident can all happen so adequate insurance cover is essential. If you are a EU resident we recommend you acquire a EHIC card (E111) covering health care provision. (http://www.ehic.org.uk/.) This you can get from the post office.

What if I have to cancel?

Should you or any member of your party be forced to cancel your booking, we need to receive this confirmation in writing via email from the person who made the original booking. The cancellation will take effect from the date that such written notice is received. The following cancellation charges will apply. The charges are expressed as a percentage of the total trip price excluding the deposit which is non refundable.

  • More than 12 weeks - Loss of deposit
  • 8 - 12 weeks - 50% of total booking value
  • 6 - 8 weeks - 75% of total booking value
  • Less than 6 weeks - 100% of total booking value
